Sweaters

Sweaters. Even typing the word makes me happy. Yes, I know. Sweaters are possibly the most amazing things ever. Everyone is just kind of subconsciously jealous when they see someone else wearing a sweater. It's scientifically proven. Maybe.
Sweaters. They are so versatile. There's sweater sweaters, sweater vests, sweater dresses, sweater shoes, sweater tights, and even books about sweaters. They can turn even the ugliest hag into a sexy, if not socially awkward, human being.
Sweaters. They deserve their own country. Their own government. Their own holiday. That's it! National Sweater Appreciation Day!! This is possibly the most awesome idea I have ever had. Just think about it. National Sweater Appreciation Day. It's ingenious! So, the very first National Sweater Appreciation Day will be this Friday, March18, 2011.Wear your sweaters everybody! And don't forget to appreciate them in the process.
Sweaters. :D

There's Nothing Like a Game of Quidditch

It's true. Especially on the first day of real spring. I got really muddy, and I figured out that I make a not-too-shabby Keeper. It figures the only sport I'm good at is Quidditch. :)

So now for my Awesome Post:
-Muggle Quidditch
-Rhythm of Love by Plain White T's
-Gilmore Girls
-The smell of Spring
-Young Womens

Papa had to speak in Kirksville last Sunday and I got to go with him. There are two wards in Kirksville, so we stayed for two sessions of church. His talk was good and people kept telling me that I should tell him and all that stuff. Then, the Sunday School teacher said something about how my dad is a great man and I'm lucky to have him as a father. It's the truth and I've always known that, but for some reason I just wanted to say that I love my parents. They're awesome and nice and all that parently stuff. Just putting that out there.

I'm trying to work on being more positive about things. I realized that I'm really whiny sometimes. I don't do the whole pouty voice thing, but I talk pretty negatively about some things. There is hardly a day of school that I don't say something like "I hate school" or "I hate Mrs./Mr. TeacherPerson". So, I'm going to try and think about other happier things. This ought to be interesting.

Quote of the Day: "Small kindnesses, small courtesies, small considerations, habitually practiced in our social relationships, give a greater charm to the character than the displays of great talent and accomplishments."
Prayer of the Day: "Father, deep within me is my determination, my strength, my will to survive. It comes from You and I thank You. Amen."

Oh, May My Soul Commune with Thee

Oh, May My Soul Commune with Thee- Hymn 123

1. Oh, may my soul commune with thee
And find thy holy peace;
From worldly care and pain of fear,
Please bring me sweet release.

2. Oh, bless me when I worship thee
To keep my heart in tune,
That I may hear thy still, small voice,
And, Lord, with thee commune.

3. Enfold me in thy quiet hour
And gently guide my mind
To seek thy will, to know thy ways,
And thy sweet Spirit find.

4. Lord, grant me thy abiding love
And make my turmoil cease.
Oh, may my soul commune with thee
And find thy holy peace.

Last Sunday, during sacrament meeting, I was randomly picking a song in the hymn book. I found this one. I don't know why, but I really liked it. I guess that's all.

Quote of the Day: "By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong."
Prayer of the Day: "Dear Father, open my heart and close my lips and let me exalt You in silent reverence this day. Amen."

Quote of the Day! "Happiness grows at our own firesides, and is not to be picked in strangers' gardens"
Prayer of the Day! "O God, I know I am not perfect and You know I am not perfect. I ask that You help me grow in the direction that pleases you and leave all my regrets behind. Amen."

Chores vs. Service

Yesterday, I shoveled. A lot. Mostly behind the garage, but also some of the path from the garage to the back door. I wrote about it yesterday a little. Anyways, it was horrible. I was cold and wet and grumpy.

Today, Mama and I went to the Dollar General. On our way home, we saw our neighbors (Actually, they live across the alley. But whatever.) shoveling snow from around their car. Obviously, there was a lot. So Mama asked me if I would go over and see if I could help. Usually, I would hesitate and ask "Why can't someone else?" But today, I just said yes, bundled up, and went over there.

Our neighbors are an elderly couple. Not crippled, helpless old people. Just old. Loxi is always lending us... well anything really. They had been working for a while so they were both tired. I was only there helping for about 20 minutes before they decided they were done for the day. As Loxi said, "I can think of 3 reasons, off the top of my head, why we should go inside. O. L. D." :) I love her and her family.

I got home and realized that I wasn't cold. In fact, I was pretty warm. I was fairly dry, except my boots. And I felt... just plain good. Honestly, it was weird at first. I started comparing yesterday to today. After a while, I figured it out. Doing something for a friend, or neighbor, or just about anyone because you want to is so different from doing something because you have to. So I'm gonna make my little mental chart in this post.

Chores:
suck, make me grumpy, not likely to be fun, basically ruin my day for about an hour or two
Service:
make me feel warm and fuzzy, so much more fun than chores, make me happy and nicer

Yeah. Also, some of the things on this list completely depend on your attitude. Just because your parents ask you to do something, doesn't mean that they're trying to make you grumpy and ruin your day. Usually, they're just trying to make your house look even the slightest bit presentable.

I'm going to try to brighten my attitude about chores this week. Here's a bit of advice- put some fun music on and dance around like an idiot while cleaning. It totally makes everything more fun.

Also, we have a cute little calendar thing with one quote for each day of the year. They all start with a small prayer and end with a quote. I'm going to start writing some of those on here.
Today's prayer says: "Lord, sometimes I feel I have a right to complain, but I do not want my life to become saturated with negative feelings. Help me to turn toward the positive. Amen." I did not know that would be so relevant to this post. Wow.
And the quote is: When most people are caught between two evils, most take the one they've never tried."

Mother Nature Kind of Sort of Sucks... But I Guess I'm OK with That

Stealing a quote from some church but who cares. "Whoever is praying for snow, please stop!" It's crazy out there! Don't get me wrong, it was pretty fun seeing how deep the snow went and making snow cones with plastic cups, snow, and lemon lime Kool-Aid. Shoveling? Not so much.
So, I am still wet from almost 3 hours of being outside. Except, that was something like 2 hours ago. I'm cold, even though the heater is working (thank goodness!). And, I have nothing to do. Great. Thanks Mother Nature. Thanks a lot.
However, as I said earlier, the heater works. I have plenty of food. Water, milk, kool-aid, etc. I am indeed clothed. So I'm warm (somewhat), fed, and not naked. Oh yeah, and my toilet is completely functional. That's a biggie!

The Zoo That is My Family

My house is a sea of hormones. And Papa's stuck in the middle of it all. With Sarah off at college, there's only 4 of us girls and Mama, counting Andrea. Fejj comes home every week (usually) with Laney. Ryan's doing great! And... he'll be home from his mission this summer!! :D

I've started an 'Awesome List' in my journal (thanks for the idea, Sarah). And I decided that I would steal another idea from Mama and tweak it a bit. So, I'm going to post an Awesome List every week-which will probably turn into every month, knowing me. They'll probably be posted on Fridays.

I've found one of my new favorite authors! Sarah Dessen! I've read all of her books and got three of them for Christmas. I'm also rereading the Harry Potter series!! :D

School - Yuck!

My school has had too many snow days, so we have to go to school on President's Day, Memorial Day, Good Friday, and instead of getting off school on June 9, we are getting off of school on June 10. If we have any more snow days, the school district is going to cut into Spring Break! =( I think that's stupid! I'm not happy! Just wanted you to know. (not really... I just got bored)

Bye!

Chicago!!

I'm going to Chicago on Valentine's Day weekend because my cousin is getting baptized there. She doesn't live in Chicago, but my grandparents are in Chicago and she wants them to be there so it's in Chicago. I'm going with my mom, my older brother, and my little sister. We're leaving home at like 6 in the morning on Saturday morning, and we're leaving Chicago sometime in the afternoon on Monday. The cool thing is that we weren't supposed to have school on Monday (President's Day) but now we do because of snow days. So I get to miss school on Monday, while my two older sisters and my other older brother have to go to school! =p Another good thing is that my cousin asked me to give a talk at her baptism! I am kind of nervous, but I know that it's a good talk so that helps a little. I can't wait!

Bye!

Bluck!!

I'm sick... so I'm just posting stuff and listening to songs on youtube. Oh yea... I'm also eating a quasidilla! (I'm not sure if I spelled that right) Yum! I have a soar throat, a runny/ stuffy nose, a little headache (really little), and my tummy is feeling better because I just finished eating (yum). Yup... so I'm like really bored right now. Anyway... I'm posting three posts today.

Bye!

I Hope You Dance!

Guess what! I found a little picture thing on thecutestblogntheblock.com and it says "I Hope You Dance" and then it switches to a picture of a girl doing a dance pose!! I am sooo happy because I Hope You Dance is my song!! I love that song soo much that i'm gonna post the lyrics right here!

Here they are:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their years and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

There they are!

p.s. Tell me if you like my picture thing.

Bye!

Don't Hurt Laurie!

If you read my little intro thing on my blog, you'll already know this, but if you don't, I'm reading a book called Don't Hurt Laurie! It's really good, even though I haven't finished it.

It's about a girl named Laurie. Her mom's name is Annabelle. This is exactly what the back says:

"You have no consideration for anyone else! Now clean up this mess!" Laurie bent down to pick up the things she'd dropped. And Annabelle kicked her...

Laurie's been keeping a secret for as long as she can remember, a secret that she's afraid to tell anyone else. The only other person who knows is Annabelle, her mother-because Annabelle is the one who beats her.

Then, one day, Annabelle goes too far-and Laurie is finally desperate enough to do something to save herself.

___________________________________________________

I was interested the moment I read the back. Also, when I started reading, I realized what a jerk Annabelle really is. Everytime it mention the details about what happened to Laurie, I feel sorry for her, even though I know that she's a character in a book. It's really sad that some mom's are the same as, or even worse than, Annabelle is.

I can't wait to finish this book! So, if you'll excuse me, I have some reading to do.

Bye!!

I like my new background! Do you like my new background?? Guess what!! I am sooo bored!! Ryan says that I should get sooo entertained so that I'm not sooo bored! I think he is kind of crazy! But, I still, and always will, love him! p.s. Ryan is right next to me, and I am saying what I type out loud, so he probably heard this entire post and won't want to read it later, unless he's not paying any attention to me.

Bye!! See ya!! Adios mi amigo!! No, really, get out!! Bye!!

Taylor Swift's new CD-Fearless

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Taylor Swift's songs, and I love her new CD, Fearless. My favorite song on the CD (right now) is The Way I Loved You. I don't really know why. I also like You Belong With Me, Love Story, Fifteen, and Breathe. But because The Way I Loved You is my favorite right now, I'm going to show the lyrics to it. Here they are:

He is sensible and so incredible
And all my single friends are jealous.
He says everything I need to hear
And it’s like I couldn’t ask for anything better.
He opens up my door and
I get into his car and he says you look beautiful tonight.
And I feel perfectly fine.

[Chorus:]
But I miss screamin’ and fightin’ and kissin’ in the rain
and its 2am and I’m cursin’ your name.
You’re so in love that you act insane
and that’s the way I loved you.
Breakin’ down and comin’ undone
it’s a roller coaster kinda rush.
And I never knew I could feel that much.
And that’s the way I loved you.

He respects my space
And never makes me wait
And he calls exactly when he says he will.
He’s close to my mother
And talks business with my father.
He’s charming and endearing
And I’m comfortable.

But I miss screamin’ and fightin’ and kissin’ in the rain
And it’s 2am and I’m cursin’ your name.
You’re so in love that you act insane
And that’s the way I loved you.
Breakin’ down and comin’ undone
It’s a roller coaster kinda rush.
And I never knew I could feel that much.
And that’s the way I loved you.

He can’t see the smile I’m fakin’.
And my hearts not breakin’
Cause I’m not feelin’ anything at all.
And you were wild and crazy.
Just so frustrating, intoxicating, complicated,
got away by some mistake.

And now,
I miss screamin’, and fightin’, and kissin’ in the rain
it’s 2am and I’m cursin’ your name.
I’m so in love that I acted insane.
And that’s the way I loved you.
Breakin’ down and comin’ undone
it’s a roller coaster kinda rush.
And I never knew I could feel that much.
And that’s the way I loved you.

And that’s the way I loved you.
Never knew I could feel that much.
And that’s the way I loved you.

The funny thing is that I was singing along as I re-read it.
There you go. Bye!

Happy new year!!

Hey all you people out there reading this. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am very bored right now, so I can't think of anything to put on this post except for happy new year. When I'm not bored and I can think of something to say, I edit this and add whatever it is. But, for now, I'm just putting this. Bye!

p.s. This was a very boring post.

p.p.s. Happy 2009!

Merry Late Christmas!!

I was going to post yesterday, but people were on the computer, and it was Christmas Day.

So, MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS!!!!

This year I got a bunch of cool things. I got (get ready for a long list of stuff) a purse with a "k" on it, really cute shoes (they have polka dots!), a shirt that has a bunch of different "text talk" on it, a 500 piece puzzle, a little penguin statue figure thing (it's holding a little Christmas tree!), two Webkinz (a snowman and a gray and white cat-the snowman's name is peppermint, she's a girl, and the cat's name is pepper, he's a boy), the Idina Menzel CD-I Stand (with $5 in the case!), a bubble wand (from Brett), and a scooter! (from Brett, again).

My family got Apples to Apples (the game), a DVD with Christmas carols on it, and a book from my grandparents.

From "Santa" we got a 12-in-1 game table!!! I was so excited, and I can't wait to get it out and set it up.

I hope you (whoever "you" are) had a very merry Christmas! Bye!

Movie thoughts

This post is about movies that I have seen, movies that I haven't seen but want to see, and movies that I have no intention of watching... ever. Hope you like it!!

1st= movies that I have seen.
I saw Twilight a while ago. Now, I haven't read the books and so if you have you would probably know more of what should be going on in that movie. But, I haven't. I really liked it. It was very entertaining and interesting.
I also saw The Dark Night. Oh my gosh!!! I LOVED it!!!!!! (Ryan, Fejj, those continuing ! were for you guys. I love you too!!!!!!!) I thought it was amazing! I can't say much more. It was just down right sweet!!
HSM3. It wasn't great. It was a lot better than the other 2, but not great. I thought they acted like teenagers for once. There were a lot more random songs though.
Another AWESOME movie that I've seen is Serenity! It's the Firefly movie. It is so cool!!!
p.s. River ROCKS!!!

2nd= movies that I haven't seen, but want to see.
I want to see Wall-E so much! I heard it was really cute. That's all I'm putting on this list.

3rd= movies that I haven't seen and don't want to see.
One of them is House Bunny. That movie looks so stupid to me.
Another is The Spirit. It is a horror movie, and most horror movie are just plain dumb to me.
The last one that I'm listing here is It. It is another horror movie. Meaning I'm not interested at all.

That's all! If you want to know my opinion on another movie, ask me. and I'll probably add it to the post. Bye!

My Best School Day!

Yesterday I had the best day of school I think I will have this year. (except the last day, party days, etc.)

I'm going to go in the order of my classes: Math-1st period, Science-2nd, General Music-3rd, Lunch, Recess, Language Arts-4th, Social Studies-5th, and Enrichment-6th.

First, I accidentally slept through my alarm clock. That's good because I missed the beginning of math. But, I had a sub who I knew. She's really nice!

Then, in science, well... nothing really exciting or unusual happened. Wow! I'm surprised! Science is always fun and exciting.

Anyway. Music's turn! I was so happy in music! On Wednesday my class had auditions for honor chorus. We found out who's in yesterday. Guess what! I made it!!! Yay!

Lunch was kind of boring. Yesterday's lunch was grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was yummy! Yesterday was also the "Main Event Party" for some fundraiser that we did like 2 months ago. I didn't go. It lasted the entire lunch period! (1st, 2nd, and 3rd lunch!) It also took up the entire gym.

The gym is where we usually have inside recess. That meant that we had to have recess in the cafeteria. Then, they changed their minds and said it wasn't too cold to go outside. So everyone had to get their coats out of their lockers. Outside I learned that if you stand by a wall that the sun hits a lot, it's warm! I stood by a wall almost the whole recess time.

Then, in language arts we played a review game for a dictionary skills test. I was fun, but we didn't finish it.

Next is social studies. For the last couple of days we had been working on billboards for whichever of the original colonies we were assigned. I got New York. Yesterday, the homeroom voted which of our class's billboards they liked the best. We voted on their class's billboards. New York's billboard got the most votes! In the other class, Maryland won. My teacher said that the group who wins gets a big candy bar! When one of the people in my group asked me what kind I wanted I said Cookies n' Cream Hershey bar! I love those things!

Last, but DEFINITELY NOT least, enrichment!!!! I had so much fun in enrichment yesterday! We did an egg drop. We actually made the containers for the egg two days before the egg drop, but that doesn't matter much. If your egg had no cracks on it when you took it out, your team got 500 points. If it had a crack, but the crack was too small to let any of the insides out, you got 300 points, and if your egg was completely broken, you got 0 points. My team's egg didn't have any cracks! We got 500! Also, the day that we made the containers, we weighed them. Who's ever weighed the least got 500, and so forth. My team's egg and container weighed the least, meaning we got 500, again!! We got 1,000 points in one challenge!

I'm still talking about enrichment, but it's a different challenge. For the last 2 days we had had a sub. In those 2 days we played animal charades. The first day was just practice, but the second day we started playing for points. Here are the instructions: We had 3 minutes to guess what animals the other teammates were. The teacher would hold up a card with the name of an animal on it. Whoever was acting it out couldn't make any noises. If the people guessing got it ready the teacher would turn over another card. At the end, each animal you guessed was 10 points. There were 2 rounds. The people who were acting in the first round had to guess in the second one. In the first round my team got 7 animals, or 70 points. In the second round we got 18 animals, or 180 points! Together that equals 250 points! Now my team has 1,950points!! I'm so happy!

p.s. I'm pretty sure I just broke my record for longest post!! Cool!!!

Bye!
